In loving memory of Elizabeth Dawson

Thank you for visiting this page.

In place of sending flowers in her memory, our mother would have much preferred that the charity Versus Arthritis should benefit instead.

Founded by her father in 1936, when Rheumatoid Arthritis was a little understood condition, he not only wrote a definitive medical textbook on the subject, he also founded the charity to research a cure and provide relief for sufferers.

Our mother founded the Central London branch of the fundraising arm and dedicated a huge amount of time and effort to it over a period of almost 50 years. Our father was also on the board giving his time to manage the funds. In the early 1990s a breakthrough was made by scientists funded by the charity which resulted in a drug (a monoclonal antibody to TNFalpha) which has revolutionised the treatment of arthritis and other auto-immune conditions.

Any donations you make would be hugely appreciated
